Monday, December 01, 2008, 15:42

A 16-year-old motorcyclist was left for dead in a Cullompton road after he was hit by a car that failed to stop.

The hit and run incident happened at Exeter Road roundabout, near Padbrook Park Hotel, at 11.15am on Monday.

Sylvia Drake, enquiry office at Cullompton Police Station, said: "He came to the station and he was in a state of shock so we helped calm him down. He was obviously so distressed as we was left in the middle of the road and his clothes were wrecked as they were what saved him."

More than £400 worth of damage was caused to the black and red Aprillia 50cc bike when it was hit by an "electric" blue Renault Megane.

The boy's helmet and leathers are wrecked following the collision and he has received injuries to his head, legs and arms.

People with any information on the crash are urged to call the Cullompton Neighbourhood Policing team anonymously on 08452 777444.
