The happy couple, who live in High Street, Bradninch, celebrated the occasion with friends and family members and remembered the day in 1958 when they tied the knot at the town's St Disen's Church.
They enjoyed a lunch with close family and an evening of revelry with friends at the town bowling club on Saturday, November 22.
Cecil, 73, who wed his wife a day before her 20th birthday, said: "The celebrations went very, very well indeed. We had a weekend of partying. We had four parties, and four out of four went exceedingly well. It was lovely to spend the time with family and friends and it was a very busy weekend."
More than 90 extended family members also enjoyed the merriment at Cullompton Rugby Club the following Sunday and Cecil and 70-year-old Wendy particularly enjoyed the company of Barbara and Janet Ruth, their two daughters, and their four grandchildren.
The couple have a life-long connection to the rugby club and Cecil has spent time as both president and treasurer, while his wife enjoyed many a year preparing post-game meals before taking the kit home to have it washed.
Cecil and Wendy have a lengthy connection with Bradninch and have been at heart of community events in the Culm Valley for a long time. Societies, sport clubs, churches and other organisations have all benefited from the Daniells' efforts. Cecil and Wendy are considered the "linchpin" of the Bradninch Bowling Club. Not only do the pair play for the men and women's teams respectively, but Cecil is the secretary and groundsman while Wendy organises many of the social events for women members.
They also work hard in arranging blood donor sessions, the next of which will be held at the Bradninch Duchy Primary School in Millway on Christmas Eve.
Cecil — known to many as Nobby — has lived in the town all his life and has worked in various trades ranging from agricultural engineering and the Royal Mail. He is the son of Wilfred and Winifred and his best man at the wedding 50 years ago was his brother Norman.
Wendy, eldest daughter of Claude and Irene Holsgrove and sister to Valerie, her bridesmaid, has also spent much of her life in Bradninch where she moved to when she was five in 1943. The couple started married life in a flat at Fore Street before moving to Townlands when their first daughter Janet Ruth was born. The birth of Barbara followed and the family moved to Hele Road where they lived for many years.
The golden couple opted for donations for their favourite charities rather than presents. The family would like to thank all those who gave generously for Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Exeter Leukaemia Fund. The proceeds are still being counted.
The bells rang out on the golden anniversary of Cecil and Wendy Daniells from the same Bradninch church where they tied the knot in 1958 Marcus Thompson MDG281108_MT10_03
